A good writer is never finishes developing their writing skill. To become excellent writers, each of us must make excellence a habit. With that in mind, we will spend a great deal of time on our skills as writers, together. Below you will find several resources for to help develop your writing- both in general and for specific assignments. We will use these resources in class but you are always welcome to explore any of these for yourself.
The Purdue University has developed an extensive writing lab (Purdue OWL) that is a very useful in the writing process. There are resources for each step of writing as well as details on how to use MLA citations correctly. You can find the Purdue OWL here.
The UCI highlighting tool is a resource that you can- and will- use to categorize your writing. During the revising process, it is very useful to see within your writing the content that is summary, or evidence, or lastly commentary. A sophisticated and excellent piece of academic writing will include all three categories- but will mostly be commentary and evidence. We will use this tool to reflect and revise our writing for the Malala Role Model Essay. You can find more explicit directions in Google Classroom. Revise your Malala essay draft here using the UCI writing tool.
